About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

New Floor - all welcome to visit.

Okay, here's a before shot from halfway up the stairs showing the icky beige carpet. Check out the new 3 1/2" baseboards in the next shots.

This is from the top of the stairs showing part of the living room. Hopefully, you can see the colour of the wood.

I haven't finished putting in the final touches yet - things like what goes on the coffee table and mantle. I'll do it after the cruise.

I'm thinking of putting in a small area rug between the sofa and loveseat.

And, finally, the dining room. I just put one leaf in the table so there's still lots more room for anyone popping in for a meal. I might put an area rug in here, too.

Leslie,

Your crib is lovely! The before and after shots show that this is a definite improvement.

Now all we need is before and after photos of the new you in your cruise outfits! Please, oh please? LOL

Have a splendiferous time on the cruise!

Saludos,
Enid

My goodness, I'm blushing! Thanks for your congrats, Willy, and Enid - I will NEVER show a "before" shot of me! Only the new and improved me! LOL I will be posting photos of the cruise, but not until after - it is just far too expensive to use the computers on the ship. (Well, I'll check & maybe try to post some if I can.) Today, I need to pick up my newly hemmed jeans and a skirt that had to be taken in. Then home to begin the packing process. You know - laundry, ironing, choosing what to take, etc. I'm now getting really excited - 3 more sleeps until I leave for Seattle. Caio for now. :D

Looks fabulous and inviting, Leslie. It's a task I want to undertake too, so that the crappy old carpeting vcan be gotten rid of. You inspire me to do something under this roof.
Cheers,
Ian

Hi, Leslie. When I buy the little red Mustang, you and I can do a Thelma and Louise (without the Grand Canyon).

And yes...you SHOULD post that picture of you in the 'outfit' you mentioned on Josie's blog.
Absolutely!

AND, maybe you should get a little red convertible mustang so you can drive Josie around?

Hi Leslie,

I SO enjoyed meeting you the other night in Seattle. You are as warm and outgoing as I thought you would be, based on "getting to know you" via the blogs.

I felt like I was chatting with an old friend, not someone I had met only moments earlier.

I would love for us to have an opportunity to visit again!

beautiful home leslie. i love the hardwood floors also. i would put a little rug between the table and sofa. sometimes you don't know what you want until you're in the store and see it. then it's like, that'll look good there, etc.

i am so proud of you--retiring from your job, losing weight, purchasing a new wardrobe, going on a cruise, got a new man (?), preparing for writing a book, traveling with suzanne. YOU GO GIRL!
