Well, I had a very promising interview this morning. The position is as an educational assistant, working with a gifted child who also has some learning disabilities. The hours are good, the pay is decent, and I'd be home by 4:00 pm. The job starts next week so that the student would get used to his new aide and continue once a week in the summer. I've missed being in the classroom and even though this isn't teaching an entire class, it'll be a new experience for me without the 60-hour work week. So wish me luck, everyone.
Good luck...! I have a good feeling about it.
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon... :-)
OH good luck to you Leslie....
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Let me join in the good wishes, how wonderful that you may have a chance to help mold a special life in a way not possible in mass education, :-)
ReplyDeleteThx guys, my hopes are high as the more I've thought about the job all day today, the more I feel as though I'd really enjoy it. I must admit I'll be quite disappointed if I don't get it. Fingers and toes crossed...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope you find it extremely satisfying.
ReplyDeleteAll the best. Have a great day. Show the kid the cartoon.....that ought to put him in his place! (Surgeon General's warning: Taking the advice of a rabid squirrel can be bad for the health of your new job).
ReplyDeleteGood luck indeed Leslie...visualize it and it should be yours.
ReplyDeleteLoved the cartoon.
I just can't stop thinking about the job - I know I'll be terribly disappointed if I don't get it. Keeps those fingers, toes, eyes, and legs crossed. ;D
ReplyDeleteGood luck Leslie, that sounds like a wonderful job and you cant beat those hours.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just got a phone call to set up a telephone interview with another school that teaches gifted children. We shall see how that goes. Surely one of the two will bring an offer.
ReplyDeleteThey will be fortunate to have you on board. After hearing your audio link *I would go back to school* where you were involved!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really interesting Leslie....all the best, and Monty does have his long legs crossed, literally. :)
Pam
Here's hoping you get the job!
ReplyDeleteWell, this morning I got an email from them saying one of them would be in touch should you be shortlisted for the next round of interviews. That does not bode well in my mind.
ReplyDeleteBut then there's the other school who called yesterday and said they'd get back to me about an interview to teach grade 4 part time.
I guess I just have to believe that what is best for me will be.
Good luck, Leslie! They will be fortunate to snap you right up!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, what the heck??? Keep me posted.
ReplyDeleteJosie
eager to know how the interview went...any word? Thinking of you...cheers
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the teaching job.
ReplyDeleteThat is an achievement!
I don't quite get the gifted child with some learning difficulties, but I've been to Newfoundland where somebody in Labrador made the joke of any Newfie graduating out of Grade Eight was considered "gifted".

Well, the interview was Monday morning and I've only heard via email that I'll be contacted if I make it to the next round of interviews. As they want someone to start next some time next week, I'm assuming I didn't get it. I know I was up against people who are younger and some who perhaps have a Special Education Diploma whereas I only have a teaching degree and experience. Hah! Well, time to move on and see if I get an interview with the other school - one who works only with gifted children. I know something will come up eventually and I thank you all for your great encouragement. Will keep you posted.
