I don't know why I'm intrigued by boats because I've never owned one. However, I seem to always be taking photos of them. It doesn't matter if it's a cruise liner (been on 3 cruises), a sailboat, a fishing boat, a motor boat (used to water ski when younger), or a simple little rowboat. My DL used to have a sailboat and would love to have another, but I'm a bit skeptical since we are "getting on." But, look at his beaming face! Doesn't he look brilliant - I know he's feeling blessed and blissful.

B is for BOATS
First of all, I'd like to put out a warm welcome to our "newbies." The first week of Round 12 brought quite a few new contributors, and I hope they enjoy the challenge of ABCW, created by our beautiful Mrs. Nesbitt and administered by our brilliant Roger.

Anyway, I've put together a little slideshow of some of my photos of boats that I hope you enjoy. Some are from when I was away in England and Wales last summer and some are from my own neighbourhood near Vancouver, British Columbia.

These are as BEAUTIFUL as you are
ReplyDeleteOh Roger! You make me BLUSH! lol
ReplyDeleteWell I grew up boating...My parents bought their first boat when I was 8 so I was a very lucky girl and got to go boating all the time. Now hubby and I have two boats and again we love to be out on the water. Thanks for sharing B for Boats...just love it! Happy New Years Leslie..it's been awhile since I've been around but I'm back now. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI love boats and used to have a sailboat. I don't sail anymore but used to love it. Great idea to feature beautiful boats. Carver, ABC Wed. Team
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo! He just love it.
ReplyDeleteI had a sailingboat for 10 years, and I love the freedom at sea.
Great B:-)
Excellent Leslie! I also love boats. If you take beaches next time, I shall take boats!! ;)
ReplyDeletei'm also fascinated with boats...especially the craftsmanship that goes into the making of a boat. about 2 years ago, i met a guy, i think he's Australian, he settled in Dumaguete City (one of the cities in Visayas region) and he build boats, beautiful, made-to-order sailboats and yachts.
ReplyDeleteBoats of all kinds. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteHe looks so very happy!
ReplyDeleteI could not survive without living by my boating world on the peninsula! And I have never owned a boat either! I am just fascinated with the design and their energy as they sail! Always beautiful! Great variety of photos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!!!! I think DL needs a sailboat!
ReplyDeleteI just love the expression on your Darling. He looks so content.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and great slideshow.
I love boats too of all sizes and kinds - recognised the Albert Dock in Liverpool straight away.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! He sure looks happy!
ReplyDeleteboats are so attractive. i can't help myself when i see one, i want to take picture right away.
ReplyDeleteWell Leslie, I don't blame you for blushing when 'adorable' Roger calls you beautiful! Wonderful smilebox, - really enjoyed your photos, although I am not a boating person.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography ~ I love boats ~ had one and enjoyed it so much ~ Great post ~

Beautifully presented! Loved the pics and the background music too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a well documented eclectic mix of boats! I really like the flat houseboats in London. One thing about being around boats...the scenery usually is pretty nice!

ReplyDeletedaddy had a fishing boat when i was young, and there's something so peaceful about the movement of the water and the stillness in the boat and the sounds of nature all around. thx for evoking such sweet memories :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteYour DL's expression is beautiful. There's nothing like the look of people who are in touch with and doing what they love deepest and best. Happy Wednesday, Leslie!
ReplyDeleteA nice selection of boats. The 'Stranger on the shore' choice, raised a smile. I've never sailed anything but always like a mooch around a harbour.
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of wonderful and brightly-colored boats in your slide show... how fun! Your hubby does indeed look like he's having the time of his life sailing!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, Leslie, i am such a delinquent blogger. Or, maybe, I'm just a delinquent. Period :) Thank you for your wonderful message with a barn suggestion. We're definitely going to check that out! I did an "A" post but it was too late to make ABC Wednesday. Now doing a "B" one that should be posted today. What can I say? Thank you so much for your wonderful spirit and energy. I loved your boats - the Tall Ships, the Yellow Submarine, the apartment (Wow!) and the familiar fishing boats and places around BC. Alaska was neat too. Hope I get there one day. Also loved the rich tone of that clarinet soloist in the music accompaniment. Just a stellar post!
ReplyDeleteOf course, we live in a part of the world that was almost built by boats. Maybe I'll see you out on the strait. - Margy
ReplyDeleteThat was a great shot of your gorgeous DL. I wasn't able to view the Smilebox slideshow, must be my connection. bUt i will come back and try again. I'm sure they'll be awesome like last week. Thank you for visiting my ABC Wednesday post.
ReplyDeleteExcellent.. boating to me seems to be very calming ... however, it can also be very hectic and scary depending on the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteI never owned a boat either, but I also take always pictures of them.
ReplyDeletethe same with me too, i love taking photos of boats.. though do not relish too much being on them...
ReplyDeleteon Monday, it is Auckland anniversary. We have the traditional regatta. The sea will be covered with boats.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the awesomeness of boating in one shot - says it all.
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a great love for boats and the water, especially tall ships. Sadly, my mother is terrified of the water which kind of put a crimp in his sailing aspirations. I fell in love with tall ships when I saw the Pride of Baltimore II sailing into port in Oswego, NY a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a boat to run about the river...now we are spending our time in our log cabin in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your warm welcome to ABCW, I enjoyed my first post sharing and look forward to many more!
