Photo Hunt - WILD

This week's theme is WILD!

(Click to enlarge photos and enjoy.)

My first offering is this shot when I became "one" with the bulrushes down at Boundary Bay Regional Park last weekend. They were growing wild everywhere! I hunkered down in the midst of this bunch and got this photo that shows the path we walked with the beach and mountains in the background.

Blackberry bushes lined the dirt path and you can see they're almost ready for me to go back with a bucket.
Hmmm...pie? jam? crumble or crisp?

After walking in the brilliant sunshine for quite a while, we decided to stop for an ice cream. This "wild critter" cosied up to us, begging for a treat. Anyone know just what kind of critter it is? He was actually very polite.

This photo is my favourite one for the theme - makes me think of that old 1969 movie "Easy Rider" and the song by Steppenwolf - "Born to Be Wild."

Anything on wheels for this kid!

Have a WILD weekend, everyone!

  1. Hi Leslie,
Fabulous assortment of wild. I love the last shot. I've got a wild one, a son :0)
I'm tickled that you got "down" and took that first photo. Beautiful results. I do that but it's not as easy as it used to be to get back up!

  2. G'day, namesake! :)

Hey - cold Canberra is finally warming up today and I really like your blackberry photo best as it's one of my favorite things to eat. There have been NONE to be had here in Canberra for at least six months. Not a one!

But yesterday, I found some at last in the freezer section of the grocery store and made a cobbler with them last night. :)

  35. I love the cat tails! We have them in many of the ditches and open country here in Iowa. Usually, of course, there is water near by.

    Fun photos!!

  36. We always called bulrushes "cattails." As a kid (with some parental supervision)they always made for great "torches" at night. Soaked in kerosene for 15 minutes or so, they would burn for an hour or better. Thanks for sharing some great images!

  37. I love the shot of your grandson!

  39. That creature looks like a prehistoric froglogisaurus in the tadpole stage where they resembled a crocodile but they were actually in the frog family. I understand they grew quite large and once grown could probably jump 200-300 feet in one bound and could catch a fly with a 2 foot wingspan if it came within 15 feet of that lightning fast tongue.

    Great capture - Rare indeed!!

  50. Love that beach scene. The berries look good -- I found some raspberries the other day and picked a few -- thought they were all gone now but not at this one place. I have earmarked it for a return visit! That reminds me, I think the blackberries are ready by now here too -- last time I walked this one trail, they were still green. . . Love the "wild kid!"

  51. Hi Leslie,

Thanks for posting your Blog info on my FaceBook page. It's great that you are still Blogging. I've not done as well keeping up with it (kind of sporadic, at the least) - but I still occasionally post. I'm working on a new WordPress WebBlog - so will send you info on that - once I get it up and running. I just had too many sites/Blogs/links to manage - and need to combine things together so that they are more manageable.

Love the photo blogs that you are doing too. Great fun!

Looking forward to staying in touch!

    Warm regards,
    Brenda aka ClickGirl
