Photohunt: SUPPORT

This week, tnchick has given us the topic "support." Now at first, I thought of support as being an architectural feature, as in bridge supports. I have some good photos that I took at Granville Island of pylons covered with mussels that hold up a section of the boardwalk, as well as photos of the Burrard Street Bridge and parts of the Granville Street Bridge that show their support systems. Since Vancouver lies at the mouth of the Fraser River systems, we have lots of major bridges that join parts of the city and its surrounding areas to each other.

However, I decided to take a different approach to the word "support." I thought of it as an emotional connection among people who care for each other. The ultimate support is that of friends and family members for one another. My parents supported me as I was growing up and were there for me even as an adult when I was faced with some terrible life experiences. Secondly, my sisters and I have been there for each other in times of need. Next, I was (and still am) there for my children and grandchildren and have been blessed with the ability to help them out financially and emotionally. They, in turn, are there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on and I know they'll be there for me when I have to go through back surgery. Then, I see my daughter and my son-in-law supporting each other and their wonderful children. Finally, I'm glad that I've had lots of friends who have stuck by me through many years of grief after losing my husband, my mother, and my father. So without further ado, here is a sampling of those I love and who love me. We know we can always count on each other for support whenever it's needed.

Dad supports me as I walk down the aisle to marry Brian.

Just as I supported my husband in life, so do my daughter Jamie and her husband Jason support each other.

Son-in-law Jason supports his son Noah as he goes skating for the first time.

Grandson Noah supports his Mommy by helping out with feeding his baby sister Eden.

I love these children so much I'd do anything necessary to help support them.

My friend Cathy and I support each other all the time during our lives' crises.

Everyone supports younger daughter Jaclyn as she works to find her place in life. We were all there on opening night of the "Frames Of Mind II" art show. See post here.
