About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Views to Die For

The views in Italy are magnificent! I thought I'd share a few that we had from some of the hotels where we stayed.

First, the hotel in Lerici was wonderful. I'm sure the owners took the photo for their website right from our balcony. Vicki and I gasped when we walked out and saw this view.

In Positano on the Amalfi Coast, the bathroom with red tile floor and raised tub was way beyond our expectations, but Vicki and I almost wept when we walked through the inner patio and onto the outer patio and saw this!

The best view was saved for last. In Taormina, Sicily, we had a suite with a lovely private terrace. Bougainvillaea lined the edge of the brick wall and we gazed over the Mediterranean with awe.

Leslie, these pictures are absolutely extraordinary. I want to hear all about your trip. Details, I want details.

Let's go back to CinCin and you can order in Italian (hah). Maybe our favorite waiter will be there.

It sounds as if you are having a WONDERFUL time, but six weeks is a long time to be away, isn't it?

Call me when you get home.

Josie

Hi Josie, yes 6 weeks (actually it'll be 7 weeks by the time I get back) IS a long time to be away. And CinCin sounds great...except maybe I've had enough Italian food to last me a lifetime! :D Details are forthcoming... ;)

Hi Sylvia! I'm in the process of packing my suitcases now as I'm heading out tomorrow afternoon. I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends, but sorry that the BIG holiday is over. However, I can say that I've made some awesome new friends from all over the USA as well as someone in Wales. Must run as I still have more packing to do. When I get home I'll be working on those photos. Cheers for now :D
