About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Hi Sylvia, my Dad is doing better and we're now meeting with the social worker to arrange placement for him in a "home." He'll never be able to live alone again, but I can't believe he actually survived these last 3 strokes! Basically, he's living with a time bomb in his head - he could go tomorrow or he could live for several more years. So...we all just have to move on with our lives and take each day as it comes. Have you heard from Franny and how she's doing? I so relate to what she's going through, having lost my own Mom 5 years ago. Hope you're keeping well.

i talked with francesca the nite her mom passed. she was doing good considering.... i told her i'd call her back after everything is over. maybe i'll call tomorrow nite.

i'm glad your dad is doing better. that's all we all can do is take things day-by-day. you take care.

Hi Sylvia, thanks for your support re the photos. But even if I don't ever win, I really enjoy looking at the photos that others take. Have you seen the latest bunch on "wild animals?" I don't have anything to contribute on this theme, but some of the ones I've seen on there are absolutely fantastic! I'm waiting for the theme of "windows" and then I'll put in a few from my Italy trip. Today is raining again after a beautiful sunny Saturday. Went to church and then to lunch with a friend. Now will have a quiet afternoon doing some laundry. Heading to California on Thursday to the reunion. Will see Ada there. Have a great day, Sylvia.

the reunion came fast. i didn't realize it was this week. you all will have lots of fun.

thanks for your encouraging words on my blog re the anna nicole smith comments. i just left another one also. for them to be saying she's not that important to be warranting all of that attention, they sure know a lot about her, and even took the time to write about her. usually when you feel something or someone has no importance or value, you don't spend time on them.

whatever anna nicole was, or however the public perceived her, she was still human, and people don't know what she went thru behind closed doors. i know on camera sometimes, she seemed real ditzy, but i try to understand people and where they've come from. then you can understand some of the things they do in their present life and why.

it's easier for some people to pull themselves up and move on, but for others, it's harder because all of our emotional and mental make-up is different.

when the love of God is in you, you value everyone, regardless of who they are simply because they are souls and God loves all of us. it's the things we sometimes do that God doesn't like, but He always loves us because He is love.

ok, didn't mean to preach leslie, but some of those comments on that blog have really annoyed me. since anna nicole can't fend for herself, i will. ok, let it out sloooooooowly sylvia. there, that's better. *lol*

have a safe and fun trip leslie.

oh yeah, thanx for taking the communication quiz. you're our first "body" communicator. i'm glad because it gives us a chance to see another body part and how they communicate. one person was an "eye" communicator, but everyone else have been "ear" communicators.

Thanks for coming over, Sylvia. You know you're preaching to the converted here, anyway! :D I think too many people took advantage of poor Anna Nicole when she needed love. I think she probably died of a broken heart over her son, coupled with anti-depressants and possibly post partum depression. I watched Larry King tonight and there are so many things coming to light now. We'll see in the next few weeks or months what happens. I hope that if anyone had a hand in her death that justice is served. Blessings to you, Sylvia.

Thanks Sylvia. I'm leaving tomorrow for Manhattan Beach and am so looking forward to the warmth. It's been raining cats and dogs here all day and it's so dark! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to you, too, and to all my friends. When I come back, hopefully I'll have some photos of the reunion to post.

Well, I don't know what happened there, but it's ME, Leslie who posted just above this one.
