Well, the 2014 Winter Olympics is over and Canada is again the gold medal champions in HOCKEY - both the men's and women's teams. It was an exciting series and we enjoyed seeing all the teams play because there were lots of players who play on our local Vancouver Canucks team who were playing for their home countries. And it was even better than the regular season because (in my humble opinion) there was no fighting! The games were played the way they were supposed to be played - with good sportsmanship and skill. Here is our men's team.
And here is our women's team.
Canada did extremely well in all the sports events and we were humbled by the effort all members put into their individual events. You can see photos of all of Canada's medal winners here. These are great photos, by the way. The country came third overall, with only Russia and Norway beating us. Congratulations to our friends and neighbours, the United States of America, who came fourth.

Well done Canada, I thoroughly enjoyed watching your team events, The men's ice hockey final was brilliant.
I feel an affinity with Canada because my Daughters' grandfather was Canadian his name was Chris Christianson, he was in the Mounties and then served in The Royal Canadian Air Force in WW2. Sadly he was killed in action in 1944.
The Christianson family have a ranch in Edmonton, Alberta.

Bravo, Canada.
A magnificent achievement. Am I right in thinking you gained more gold medals than the USA, along with the prized ice hockey golds?
1 Russia 13/11/9=33
2 Norway 11/5/10=26
3 Canada 10/10/5=25
4 United States 9/7/12=28
So Canada had more gold, but the US has more medals (bronze kinda looks like gold, in the right light...)

Don't forget the Dutch! ;). We had 8 golden, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals and altogether 24 medals, but ...all for skating. We came 5th.For a small country not bad.
Congratulations Canada.
Wil, ABCW Team
Congrats and well wishes all around! These are such amazing athletes....regardless of the country. But, if I had to root for another country, it would be Canada! :-)
Wow they are good! Frankly speaking I prayed for the US team there is nothing wrong with that. ^_^ Overall I enjoyed all the games in winter olympics but feel bad about figure skating don't know what happened to it after they let the Russia won amidst her slips compare to Yuna Kim from Korea and Italy.
Thanks for sharing I think I still have the olympic bugs on me. ^_^

Congratulations Canada for a game well played!!!
Canada did do well. I watched a lot of the winter olympics including most of the hockey games.
Love the happy faces in the pictures. Winning is a great feeling.
Not my favourite game because of the fighting that seems to be a part of it, but did enjoy the Olympic games - more ordered and civilized!!! And am so proud of the Canadian team...
Happy for my homeland! I didn't get up to watch the men's final but my sister in Calgary did - off to the pub at a very early hour. She's a very dedicated hockey fan!
Congratulations to the great teams and their accomplishments...especially fair play. that's something we need more of.
hockey gold medals should go to canada, it's your sport :)

Congrats kanaga, it was a great team, best regard from Belgium
I must say they really did play well. I've learned to appreciate Hockey because of the winter olympics.

Congratulations on your medal haul. I thoroughly enjoyed the games there were some great moments of winning and loosing. We had our largest medal count ever, don't laugh, it was 4, not bad for a country with a lack of snow, good on the fridge kids.
A great sport!
Hooray and Huzzah for Hockey!
Lovely take!!
Re your query on my post - the sculpture was made of scrap metal.
Congrats for the medals! I didn't follow the games, but everybody talked about the hockey. Seems like it was epic!
I haven't watched the winter games, I never watch sport, I don't like any except Golf, but that's for my cat who watches the ball falling in the hole and looks under the TV set to find it ! Of course I watch more the cat then the Golf !
Canada and Hockey, world famous. I used to play the "Lawn" hockey. can be nasty when the stick meets your leg, but not as nasty as the ice hockey stick.
We are big hockey fans around here too.
