About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

MARY DID YOU KNOW?

This song is one of my absolute favourites at this time of year! I first heard it almost 10 years ago when our church put on its annual Christmas musical. I was singing in the choir and two of the church's best singers (one man and one woman) sang it as a duet. Please listen to the words, sung here by Clay Aiken, and feel the power there. A very Merry Christmas to all and a Happy Hannukah to my Jewish friends.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

The blind will see.
And the deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the Great I Am.

"Mary Did You Know" is indeed beautiful. It seems to come out of the blue, so unlike other carols.

Funny you should have a kind of icon up.
I am feverishly reprinting my Black Icon novel.

I love this song and I heard him sing it on Regis and Kelly the other evening...well, I taped it that is why it was in the evening. He didn't do well that day, not at all. I was sort of embarrassed for him. But he must have had an off day because this is beautiful.

Ivan, thanks for dropping by. I looked on your site, but SO much to read. One day, I'll get caught up.
Peg, good to hear from you again. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and keep saving those 85 cents. They add up. :)
Hi Sylvia,I'm not doing much more than lounging around today, too. I'm all set for Christmas and just have to bake the shortbread.
Ellie, I missed Regis that day as I had my Dad here and he doesn't like him (Regis). I wish I'd seen it. Sorry to hear he botched it.
Josie, yes he does have a good voice - Vicki had his latest CD and played it in the car on our trip. He just keeps getting better.

Just the sort of spirituality Christmas needs more of to get away from the junk.
So nice to hear from you again, Leslie. We'll have to swap European notes some time. My wife had similar ATM problems in France that you experienced in Europe. Oddly, one ATM near our hotel would accept hers, but two others wouldn't. Yet, I had no problems with mine.
Meanwhile, I hope your retirement is going well, and may you and yours have a wonderful Christmas.

Hi Ian, I hope that other than the ATM problem your trip was fun. I know I had the best time ever - I've never been away from home for so long before. Four weeks in Italy and 2 1/2 weeks in England and Wales - I did NOT want to come home and face reality. But now I'm into the season and happy to be able to be with my daughters, son-in-law and grandson plus my other family. Have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.

Hi, Leslie, and Merry Christmas. "Mary Did You Know" is truly inspirational.

At our house we were joking about how commercialized Christmas is now and that we should be putting lightup signs of Coke, Pepsi, Burger King, Nazcar, and all the other commercial junk in our yards instead of Christmas lights. Where did the simple joy and love of Christmas go?

I enjoyed your photographs!

My doggie San injured her leg jumping, so this evening I am playing nursemaid.
