But it has been a good Friday so far for me because I met my two sisters for lunch to celebrate one sister's birthday. We went to a place called The River House, which is situated along the banks of the Fraser River near my home. I've been there many times with friends and family and never get tired of it. It's nice in the winter because there is a lovely warm fireplace to keep you cosy. And it's great in the summer because you can sit out on the patio overlooking the marina and boats that are moored there. Also, you often see rowers practising on the riverat all times of the year.
Anyway, it was pleasant, as usual, and after saying our "good-byes," I wandered to the water's edge and took a few shots that I'd like to share with you. It's beautiful here at any time of the year, but it will be even more so in a few more weeks when the trees turn green and the water reflects the sky blue.

What a peaceful place. I especially like that last photo. I'm glad you've had a "good" Good Friday. Here the Church bells are silent from Good Friday until Easter Sunday morning - when all 100 churches ring their bells simultaneously.

Leslie, I hope you have a very nice Easter! Among other, more serious reasons to celebrate Easter, I do regard it as the real beginning of spring.
I really enjoyed these photos - a lot! One of my favorite activities is to look at a group of pictures that truly depict how an area looks. I am always asking Johanna (Josie) for pictures of street scenes, city buses, buildings, lawns, houses, etc.
These pictures are wonderful and I have just spent the last several minutes looking at them. I liked the boats in the water and wondered if someone might be using the house boat yet - it looks fun.
The grass and trees look just like out here in Iowa -- grass getting green but trees still brown. I think you have lots of tulips blooming now and other spring flowers.
Here in Iowa we are still a week or two away from tulips. I suspect lawnmowers will start running this coming week.

And, yes, please start posting pictures of lilacs when they begin to bloom!! Our lilacs will bloom the last week of April and first week of May and will last until a week after Mother's Day...

I was just saying to my husband that I'd like to take our motorhome and drive to Canada. Maybe that will happen someday!

Like you I always found Good Friday very depressing and it usually raind to boot. This year hubby and I went on a road trip to nowhere and found ourselves in Campbell River and then back to Comox where we spent the night at his brothers...it actually turned out to be a lot of fun...
