About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

K is for KNICKERS and KNACKERED

Hi from Wales, everyone!  I'm happy to announce we shall be home Wednesday - all things going well.  I must say, though, that we are both completely knackered from traveling and from all the stress of DL having had surgery requiring a 3-week stay in the hospital.  We will both be needing a lot of sleep in the next week or so.  One good thing was that I had packed so many knickers that I only had to do a couple of loads of laundry!

Another good thing, too, was that DL was well enough to accompany me to the home of his ancestors, Wales, to stay with my friend Jane and to see that Great Britain is much more than just London.  The green hills, the friendly people, the delicious lamb and other delicacies have helped to soften his mood and give him a better perspective on the entire country.  I have lots and lots of material to share with you over the coming weeks and months - maybe even years!

In the meantime, we have decided that we will look into getting a female yellow lab puppy when we feel rested enough to deal with a "baby."  Now to find a name for her!  Any ideas?
Just to let you know, too, that I did meet up with the kind-hearted Mrs. Nesbitt.  Tea and scones were served in her kozy kitchen beside her new kooktop.  And - she does not have knobby knees.  Klick HERE to check out other contributions to ABC Wednesday!

Ooh, a puppy! That will make up for the stress you`ve been through, and will keep you laughing as well as exhausted.
My sister used to breed labs, so I`ve met many a lab puppy, and never met one I didn`t like.
However, if you don`t find a lab pup who is ready when you are, you might consider a golden girl. Our Lindy is the light of our lives.

We had a wonderful yellow lab for many years....Sam was the best friend! He would let children climb all over him and never did realize that his always wagging tail could be dangerous! The only downside was the shedding! Yikes! Get a very good vacuum. So glad DL is doing better and spirits are higher!

Oh what an adorable puppy!!!!! My kids are dying for us to get a dog - but you know who's going to take sole care and responsibility for it!!!! And, I just don't have the time (and I travel a lot - which is no fun for the dog...)

Good luck with a name!

Knickers and knackered are not words in my everyday vocabulary, but they sure are fun.

Ah, so the puppy question is resolved!

Being British, I love when 'knackered' shows up anywhere...people look at me oddly when I use it here.

And the puppy is beautiful. The first name that came to my head was Sugar Bean, even thought sugar doesn't come from beans...lol. I still think Bean would be a great name for your new baby, and a short name makes training them easier, I've learned from experience.

Hey! I know this is kind of off topic but I was
wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I'm getting tired of Wordpress because I've had problems with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

Hi there, I do think your web site might be having web browser compatibility
issues. Whenever I take a look at your web site in Safari, it looks fine
however, when opening in I.E., it has some overlapping issues.

I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up!
Other than that, fantastic website!
