About Me
- Leslie:
- Delta, British Columbia, Canada
- I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Break Away
From the first time I heard this song, I felt it described so many feelings I've been having over the last year or so. Teaching kids was great - I loved the classroom part - but other aspects of the job did not impress me. Plus, there are so many other things I want to do with my life - from traveling, writing, photography, making new friends, and perhaps if the good Lord wills it, having another chance at love and romance. I've taken steps to improve the quality of my life and retired in June. My first travel experience since then was a cruise to Alaska where I met so many really neat people. Now I will do more traveling in Europe and Great Britain and then come home to write that long-awaited book about what it's like to experience early widowhood. Who knows what is in the future? That's the exciting part...watching it develop.
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget all the ones that I love.
I'll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away

hi leslie,
ok, i'm going to try this again. i posted here earlier and when i clicked to publish, it disappeared into cyberspace.
i had said how great it was that you are able to travel, write, etc. you've certainly earned this time to do whatever you want to do. i know it's a dream come true to retire and travel the world.
how was your date with the new guy from the posh neighborhood of vancouver that you were meeting for brunch along the river and then going for a walk in the park? see, thought we'd forgotten, huh? *lol* you know inquiring minds want to know--at least this inquiring mind. *lol*
have a great evening.
sylvia
Ada First, Englishtown - I'm not sure what you mean by it. Could you please explain. Thx. Re school - absolutely no regrets and it's in the past. I've moved on.
Sylvia and Ada just a guy who's invited me to brunch at a nice place on the river and for a walk afterwards. It's on Saturday and will let you know. I have no expectations.
Hi Leslie!! On reference to moving forward, it is our time to spread our wings...(and not feel guilty about it and move on!) YAH!! It's time.
I agree with your thoughts about this Saturdays meeting...I think when we have to high of expectations the disappointment is there....all we can do is keep an open mind, (friendships are always nice too.)
Take care, have fun on Saturday!!
And happy traveling!! Thats great, and well deserved!

Hi, Leslie. What a gorgeous song. I don't think I have heard it before.
I'm anxious to hear all your news.
Yes, the blogs do keep me connected. For some strange reason Dr. John has "tagged" me and I am getting visitors to my blog from some sort of marathon. It's a hoot.
Yes, I have always loved this cabin. I don't mind being alone, either. It's quite refreshing.

Hi Leslie...that is a lovely song you have playing on your blog...Good on ya!
I just gave you the instructions that were given to me by Joanne in Belize (Enid's sweetheart of a daughter)...she made it real simple to understand.
hi leslie,
it's good sometimes to have a lazy day. when i got back from california saturday, i was so happy to be at my own computer, i was here almost around the clock thru early tuesday morning. now, i'm catching up a bit on my sleep, and taking breaks from the computer.

Good for you Bun-Bun! No carrots for you! as the soup man would say on Seinfeld :) I agree that he has no manners...what goes around comes around...right ladies and Bun-Bun?
Leslie...I just got a tip from Sylvia's blog...to keep the music showing go to change settings...click on comments...then click yes for show comments in a pop up window...don't forget to save :)
Viola!
Doing so will also change the comments to the bottom so you don't have to scroll down each time...we learn from each other something new every day. We should all get a life, huh?
By the way, how was you outing tonight?
I meant going not showing on the music :)
jubxfuci...I'm not playing this time :)
Thanks Willy! I did it. Yes, we sure do learn from each other. What a great sisterhood we have! Off to bed now. See ya tomorrow.
hi leslie, check out my blog for the video of me dancing above my music box at the bottom of my blog. you can just select one of the videos on the same page you select your music and click on, and when you click which music you want, it saves the video as well and pastes them both in the template.
i like this song by kelly clarkson. it is so nice to keep listening to the music while we write our comments. i might not ever hear some of the music otherwise. the words to the song are an added plus. i can sing along with the song, helping me to learn the words. thanx for that added bonus. i'm going to do the same.
i agree with you willy, whatsoever a person sows, that shall that person also reap.
i love bowling leslie. we'll have to make that be part of what we do when we all meet up. i was trying to win some southwest airline tickets for my trip to california in the spring at the program i went to on friday, but my number wasn't called, but i'm saving my $$$.
fbsojpw = fit, beautiful, so joyful, pretty willy
sylvia
i had to come back leslie because these words are so fitting for all of us--very powerful.
sylvia
Awww Sylvia...you have me blushing again you sweetheart you :) and I also love bowling! We should have gone bowling right up the street where my old house was (179th St)at the South Bay Bowling Center! I used to bowl on a league there when I was a teen and my mother was an excellent bowler...I used to keep score for her league (that was before the automatic score keepers) I loved keeping score and the bowlers would always give me good tips and buy me lots of good snacks and old fashioned cherry cokes.
I have to tell you a funny story...When I was younger...one night I got out of bed and asked my brother where my mother was and he told me the bowling alley so I just opened the door and was going to walk up the street to the bowling alley...my brother came after me and knew not to wake me so he just turned me around and walked me back home.
I eventually outgrew the sleepwalking...at least I hope I did :)
twdiavn...two diamonds...very nice!
Wow, Willy! I hope you don't sleep walk anymore. Your story reminds me of when my daughter Jamie was about 18 months old and I woke up around 2 a.m. thinking I heard something. I checked and there she was almost at the front door. I guess she was dreaming and was going with me somewhere. After that, we got those special doorknobs that kids can't turn. It really scared me thinking she could have been out there in the middle of the night all alone!
