I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah! I'm a bit late getting this posted as the days have just flown by. Today, I'm rushing out to lunch with a great friend whose birthday lies mid-week between Christmas and New Year's...her birthday tends to get lost between these big holidays, so we have tried to make it a tradition to get together for her own big day. Here is my poem for the week and following a few photos of our Xmas - some scenes from around the neighbourhood, my coffee table centerpiece, me with my new Hudson Bay Company teddy bear (named Henry after the explorer), and Lorne so surprised to receive the book he's been desiring for some time now!
XMAS
Xmas is red and green and blue and gold.
It looks like a rainbow of stars in the sky.
It sounds like angels singing on high.
It smells like cider and oven-baked pie.
It tastes like fruitcake, pudding, shortbread.
It feels like hugs from family and friends.
Xmas is warmth and love to behold.

awww, the little Bay sweater is so cute on that bear!
I will miss the lights when they are finally turned off - far too soon in my opinion.
I'd hate to have my birthday around Xmas - good that you note your friend's natal day!

My Hubby's birthday is Jan.1st. It seems he always get's the short end of the celebrations.
Love your sweet bear and all the beautiful lights.
Wishing you the best New Year's ever.
A belated Merry Christmas to you. I love the lights of the season - maybe living in a land with lots of clouds and limited sunshine in the winter, the lights really brighten my mood. Nice shots. - Margy
I'm wayyyy behind too! If that's the new Stephen King book Lorne got, tell him to just hole up somewhere and put his feet up....I can hardly put it down! :)
Stop by and wish Johanna a Happy Birthday! Thanks!
Great Christmas shots and poem. Wishing you a wonderful New Year ahead!

This is a very beautiful x-mas by the looks of it. I wish you a wonderful New Year's Eve. We always have a lot of fireworks . Last year we had a lot of snow. Now everything is still greenish gray!

I just love Xmas lights and decorations, and that bear and sweater look divine! Wishing you a spectacular 2012.
Very appropriate poem and lovely Chrismas photos, - my birthday is January 2nd, but somehow it seems like an exciting end to the holiday season and I've never minded it being so close to Christmas.
Those pine cones are gorgeous Leslie! Have a happy new year!
Perfect! Bears, books and beautiful lights. Couldn't be finer...
Well, I'm later than you! And my post is about Xmas as well...although from a little different approach. ;-) Looks like you had a lovely holiday. Love the lights.

Beautiful Christmas lights. My birthday is on Christmas Day and I'd rather be right on the day than near it. See my blog for my thoughts on a Christmas Birthday.
Love the Christmas lights!
Happy New Year!
Fiancée's birthday is also 27th. We tried to make a special fuss and, of course, had to go out to eat ...
