About Me

Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Stubbing Toes

Yesterday, I stubbed my right baby toe on a table leg and saw stars! Today, I went for my pedicure and Lorie managed to get some of the bruising to go away - if you look closely, you can still see the purple bruise. I did this several years ago and actually managed to break one of my little toes. Isn't this the most painful thing you've ever experienced - those of you who have... You can't do anything but limp around for a few days 'cuz it has to heal itself.

Today is an inside day here in Greater Vancouver - lots of rain coming down. We need it, though, 'cuz it's been SO hot here lately and the lawns, gardens, and farmers need the moisture. It's actually a nice break from the heat. Stay cool, everyone!

Are those your feet? You're a hoot. I like the toenail polish colour, though.

You must have been in SUCH pain. I once broke my toe running across the room to turn off the radio when Michael Bolton came on. I slammed into the leg of the chesterfield. I managed to get the radio off though.

Oh God nryssiid. You know, I actually failed one of those things once. I was so humiliated.

Yeah, new colour! But next time I think I'll tell Lorie to just shape the toenails so they'll be a teeny bit longer for the cruise. I'll be wearing mostly open-toed shoes, anyways. And YES! It HURT like H***!!! But better now.

Heck, don't worry about this word verification thingy - I've failed it MANY times - LOL - but it really does keep the spam out. If you start getting spam, then put it on yours.

Pretty toes, Leslie, and condolensces about the stubbed one. Excruciating. Now, about the weather, we in BC should carry out a joint sun dance for the return of our summer.

Ouch!
I've been there...done that too...I was turning a corner in my house (Colorado) a little too close and I did the same thing to my baby toe...had to wear one of those funny shoes for a while.

Nice pedicure...I get them about once every 2 months although I should go more often. I think I'll get one this weekend...thanks!

I'm going to visit Josies blog and and meet her grandfather...and I owe you a reply to your e-mail from yesterday...
Has the rain stopped?
My word for today is 'xcoprp'

Here you are......

Now I found you. Ok, you still have this site up. Good deal. How is the toe coming along? And are your days just speeding along with swimming and all the great things that retirement has for you?!!!

Let us all know, do you really get all that micro-dusting done once retired? Or are the days spent outdoors....walking, swimming, you know, all the fun stuff?? LOl.

Take care
Keep us all posted on your book also

Hi Peg, yes I'm keeping this site open for fun stuff. Dusting??? What's that? Oh, yeah, I guess I should do that once in a while. LOL My days are spent lolling in the sun reading, going to my aquacises to try to tone up after losing 39 lbs. as of today. I go and visit my son-in-law too 'cuz he's home with a broken foot. Getting some home renos done - roof is done, exterior painting is done, now waiting for a quote on hardwood floors, and then the front garden is going to be redesigned. Such is life! FUN!!!

ouch! i know from personal experience how painful that is leslie. i broke my big toe about 20 yrs ago. couldn't do a thing except let it heal. it was bent for a long, long time, but now you'd never know.

then i had the foot contusion and torn ligaments that i'm just getting over. my big toe (same toe that i broke 20 yrs ago) was hurting so bad because it went under when my foot bent. i had to wear that big ole' post-op shoe for 9 whole weeks. whew! glad that's over. now i'm wearing my sandals with my pretty polish on my toes, just like you

my word is swymfvnc. the first part makes me think of swimming. at least, my toenails will be pretty in the water. *LOL*
