About Me

Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Dancing With the Stars

I am hooked on "Dancing With the Stars!" So don't phone me between 8 and 9:30 pm on Mondays or between 9 and 10 pm Tuesdays. The two men judges are from England and judge their version of the show, too. I watched the English one last fall when I was over visiting friends and they are exactly the same as how we see them here. They're hilarious!

I was sorry that John Ratzenberger was voted out last week because I think he's worked harder than Billy Ray Cyrus. After all, last week Billy Ray didn't even dance the waltz - he just stood there while his partner pirouetted around! I'm surprised the judges gave him any points at all.

But I must say that everyone who's been voted off has been very gracious and thanked all those who voted for them and especially thanked their professional partners. Boy, I'd love to be able to take lessons and learn how to dance like that. Anyone know how singles can get lessons? It seems everywhere I look the fees are for couples. Well, I'm off to watch the show now so I won't be answering the phone. Leave a message and tell me who you think is going to ultimately win. My bet is on either Anton or Joey.

I don't watch Dancing with the Stars, but I sure got hooked on So You Think You Can Dance, last year.

I worked with a pharmacist who was a widow and she took dancing lessons at UBC. (We both worked at UBC hospital.) I think there was some kind of dance club there. She wasn't a young girl, in her early fifties.

I'm hooked like that on American Idol. I don't answer the phone if it rings during that time.

I watched the dance competitions...the ones where Marilou Henner hosts...can't seem to remember the name of the shows but sure enjoyed them. Dance lessons would be great fun. Hope you find a club to join Leslie.

Leslie, I think there are dance lessons available here, but I guess you would have to find a dance partner.

I never got hooked on "Dancing With The Stars" or "American Idol", but my daughter and her family are, and like you, they don't answer the phone when they're on... :-)

I do think Billy Ray Cyrus is adorable, however.

If Billy Ray doesn't get voted off tonight, then I just don't know what I'll do (watch the show or boycot it). He is a cutie, but as a dancer he is hopeless.

here in SA they are forever copying the American or British reality shows. We also had a dance comp called strictly come dancing - I must admit I enjoyed it tremendously!!!!

Hope you are well?

Well, Billy Ray has left the building and now the REAL dancing will begin. It'll be interesting to see who wins - I was actually quite shocked to see Joey in the bottom two because I think he's better than Ian (although he's very good, too). It's going to be a horse race for here on out. Excitement abounds.
