About Me
- Leslie:
- Delta, British Columbia, Canada
- I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

I'M MELTING
Oh my gawd! For so long we were moaning about the rain and now it's so #*&%# HOT I feel like I'm melting. Is it this global warming thingy that's happening or what? I wish I had a pool and I'm even considering going and buying myself a blow-up kiddie pool to stick my feet in. Using the bathtub wouldn't work 'cuz it's too hot upstairs. I slept in the family room last night on the hide-a-bed under the ceiling fan, so at least I could sleep. I tried sitting out on my patio this afternoon (it's shady) but that didn't work so I came inside and sat in front of the oscillating fan. I don't care any more about losing weight because I'm going to eat a quart of ice cream for dinner and drink A & W root beer until I start to foam at the mouth. Anyone else suffering???

I hear you loud and clear Leslie! And tomorrow is even hotter. Us poor folks in this part of the world will need to invest in air-conditioners from now on methinks. Such a sudden change from a month ago isn't it...
You could have been describing me! We're hitting 100 degrees, day after day after day!!! It's ghastly and I'm drowning in my own melted puddle.
Leslie, it's 3:3 a.m., and I can't sleep because of the heat. On the way home from work tonight, I felt as if my skin were on fire from the heat. It was actually almost frightening, like an end-of-the-world kind of feeling. I have never seen it this hot here.
I know it has been so stinking hot...but I have been trying to stay near the rivers and ocean....I have been up since 0500 there is a lovely breeze outside this morning.....I think it might cool a bit today....that A&W rootbeer sounds like a great idea...
My daughter had a migraine last night and I had to spend until midnight at emergency with her. At least they had air conditioning! I think I'll have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a restaurant today and wander the air conditioned malls. I just can't stand this - it makes me feel ill.
Yesterday we went to the FIFA World Cup at Swanguard Stadium. We sat directly in the sun on the bleachers on the hottest day on record (37 Celsius). That's what you get with the cheap seats! At least my tan is deepening...Jamie
Well, this morning there was a lovely breeze, so took advantage of the cooler weather (so far today) and walked into the village to breakfast with a friend. Then took the long way home trying to stay in the shade all the way. Now am trying to find my SIL to get him to meet me for frappuccinos (sp?) at Starbucks (air conditioning).
Being sort of a rain deer herder, I have never faired well under the extremely hot conditions. I have been, on few occasions, in Southern deserts and other unpleasant (to me) conditions but those were relatively easy for them being temporary occurrences and kind of an adventures mixed with a macho sport.
As it happens, I just came back from a fairly long canoe and hiking trip in the badlands of Alberta and even if it was uncommonly and relatively cool for this time of the year (mid 20's C) the sheer physicality of the trek made it feel way hotter. Right now, I am sitting in my little cubbyhole and the temperature is 32C outside, the Sun is belting whole day on my six windows and there is no breeze what so ever. I wish I had a gun to end this misery! :'-(
Leslie, it's so much cooler today. It's just perfect. My kind of weather.
Hey... I see Pekka's back...
Cheers,
Josie
Yes, today is MUCH better - perfect, in fact. So am feeling more human.
I sure as heck aint suffering from any heat - It is the middle of winter here in SA and we are really freezing our butts off this year!!! So please send me some warm sun and I will with pleasure send some coolness your way!!!!!
Take care and stay safe!
Sending "cool" wishes your way down in SA!!! And my friends in the land of Oz. Much better the last couple of days so will try to get out walking again. AND forgoing the ice cream! :(
I hate to tell you it's a comfortable 76 here, but we had that kind of heat a couple weeks ago. I love A & W. Had some in a frosty mug just last weekend on my way to my Grandma's 96th Birthday Party.
Enjoyed getting caught up here tonight. How did you miss out on that "tagged" thing--it was buzzing all around you?
Consider yourself tagged! See my Thursday post for instructions if you haven't melted tonight.
