The theme for this week is CLOUDS and believe me, I've seen far too many of them lately. We had a terrible spring this year but finally, summer arrived with clear blue skies and the odd fluffy cumulus cloud, like those at the left. Unfortunately, the last few days have been overcast, windy, and cool. So I really didn't want to even think about clouds, but when I started going through my photo gallery, I discovered that I did indeed have a few that might work for today.
Here we have sunrise in Naples mid-November 2006 around 7:30 am. The sun was just coming up over the mountains and gave a sort of eerie look to the clouds. They seem to be ringed in light.
This is a typical late fall day in my neighbourhood. I took this shot last November at Steveston. All the fishing boats were in dock and although it was an overcast day, you can still see the reflection of the clouds and boats in the water.
Here are some storm clouds that started to come in one day while I was out walking on the dyke last November. It had been a beautiful sunny day when all of a sudden these black menacing clouds swiftly moved over the area. I was glad to catch the sun still trying to shine through the darkness before I quickly turned to head home before the rain hit.
And finally, this past Tuesday I was in Victoria to visit a friend. It was the first day we'd had rain after three solid weeks of hot summer weather. It stopped raining later in the day so we went down to the city's Fisherman's Wharf and strolled the boardwalk. All the fishing boats are in dock now, even though they should be out fishing for salmon, due to the collapse of salmon populations.

What a superb selection. A really nice take on the theme. I really do love the Naples photo. Happy weekend
Beautiful work, Leslie. The second and fourth shots are simply stunning.
I know you are BC-based and I must tell you I am transitting thru Vancouver on my way to the Yukon later this month.
Would be great to speak with you on the phone. Will give you my exact schedule when I have it. At this stage I have flight details but not hotels etc.
Will keep you informed ....
Oh what great choices for this week - all wonderful shots!!
Happy Weekend.
Really beautiful... happy hunting!
Those area all wonderful clouds. I can see where you would get tired of them if the weather has been gloomy too long but they all look beautiful to me.
Hi - I went looking for a Naples one! But I decided to use one of the San Gimignano ones.
I drove by Naples once in April, in 2005 with snow on Vesuvius.
Very nice collection indeed the first ones look like the edges are blurred and the sun ones are spectacular
Excellent photos here Leslie, from all over the world. Have a great weekend.
wow - that first photo is sooo adorable!!! And I guess we must have just crossed paths in victoria.. Fun fun!
Oh, I love the first photo, looks like a postcard.
Lovely photos :)
As "Jams" wrote, 'superb selection!'
"Louis" has been buried deeper than his cowbell in work - and will be for the next month or so. He hasn't paused to say 'hello' when he has stopped by.
I had two trips to Vancouver. Overcast and raining both times. The first time I went was just for the afternoon. We drove up from Seattle and had a beautiful late spring day in Vancouver.
I got seduced into moving to Seattle when we turned up on a beautiful summers day. Not my memory of most of the winter we were there.
Have a great weekend.
Oh wow.. I love those shots where the light shone down from the clouds!
They are all good, but the Naples shot is fantastic!
Love the last two in particular! Beautiful.
Peace - D
