About Me

Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Sixty is Sexy

Sixty is sexy, so says the mug that my grandson gave me for my birthday! My daughter and her husband took a photo from my blog and had it put on a mug for me - I was SO surprised and very pleased, of course! They and my other daughter chipped in to get me Sarah Jessica Parker's newest perfume, Covet, which I had recently mentioned I liked. And my two sisters got together and got me new kitchen stainless cutlery and a really stylin' cutlery tray. It's beautiful and I really needed new cutlery. I was also presented with a "crown" and a Hawaiian lei. We all joked about my not having been "layed" for long enough. So I have now been "lei-ed."

I share the day with my son-in-law Jason and he turned 34 yesterday. So today was a combined birthday party for both of us and Thanksgiving for all of us. He thoroughly enjoyed his gift from me and told me all about the party he had last night. It was a crazy hat party and Daughter #2 won the prize - a mickey of rum (which she and her friend proceeded to finish off). But he was good and wasn't hung over for today.

Dinner was delish and filling and the pumpkin cake with whipped cream cheese frosting that Daughter #2 made for Jason and me was so light and fluffy! I wanted more, but managed to resist temptation. All in all, we had a wonderful evening and I thought I'd share some photos with you all.

I'm glad you had a great weekend. I have a way to go (I'm 46) but I sure hope I have your spunk and attitude if I make it there. And although I'm sure you hear this all the time, you DO NOT look sixty. If I were a casting agent and the part was for a "sixtiesh woman" and you walked in, I would laugh at you and send you away.

Happy Birthday. You look like you had a great day. Love the pix. Great family you have. I'll cross that birthday threshold in four years. Doesn't scare me a bit, although it once would have seemed OLD. It's all reletive.

Hi Geewits, thanks for the compliment and I actually DO hear that all the time. Once when I walked into my daughter's office, her colleagues remarked to her that I must have been a teenager when I had her. NOT

Hi Nancy, well if 60 is sexy, I better find myself someone to be sexy WITH - LOL...

Hi Ruth, heck don't worry about it. I decided that since I didn't care for the alternative, I might as well embrace the inevitable. I still don't feel a day over 59. lol

Hi jmb, I must pop over to your site and see what's new. Thanks for dropping by. And yes, we sure did have fun - both out with the girls and in with the family.

I hope I look as good as you at 60! enjoyed your blog! I am going for sometime with my sisters- unfortunately one has breast cancer but we've not been together the three of us, since I was about 22, I am 55!

Unbelievable! I think Australia has many beautiful things but it has played havoc with people's complexions-too much sun, we age (skin wise) quickly here....you have the complexion of a woman decades younger, actually your whole family does.

Have I told you how adorable Noah is in the last five minutes!

Leslie you are fair dinkum radiating youth and fun, you wouldn't last 5 minutes single here..Ozzy men have plenty of cheek to chat women up...pumpkin by the way is a famous Aussie aphrodiasic..:)

What a great couple of days, I am so glad you have had a chance to get some smiles back, feel the whole universe smiling with you!
