About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Three Birthdays and Thanksgiving

Besides the fact that Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, we also have three birthdays to celebrate this month. My son-in-law Jason and I share the same birthdate in the first week of October, albeit different years, and my older daughter Jamie's birthday is at the end of the month. Jason's brother's birthday is 2 days before his, so their Mom always likes to combine their birthdays with Thanksgiving whenever possible. This year it was her turn to have their clan for the big celebration, so I delayed mine by a week. So last night was our family celebration. Just thought you might like to see how quickly the children are growing. Noah will be 5 in just over 2 months and Eden is growing like a weed, now 7 1/2 months old. Notice Noah still has curly hair and Eden's is a soft auburn.

Jason is a wonderful father and is very open in showing his love to them both. Naturally, Eden is his little princess and he has categorically stated that she will not be allowed to date until she is 30. She loves it when he plays "patty-cake" with her!

And of course, I'm so proud of my daughter Jamie and what a great mother she is to her two children. Noah just loves to hop up onto her lap and have his photo taken.

My younger daughter Jaclyn is the bestest "Auntie" and absolutely adores her nephew and niece. We were looking at old photos of my two daughters when they were babies last night, and it was uncanny how much Eden looks like a combination of my two daughters. However, I must admit there is a lot of her Daddy in her, too.

Noah loves spending time with his Daddy, especially when they go bike riding, fishing, ice skating, and to Starbucks for coffee/apple juice and a little treat.

We had a wonderful time last night, but I must admit I was bushed by the time they left. My back was aching badly, too. However, nothing will ever get in the way of my spending time with my beloved family and no matter how tired I am or how much pain I'm in, I would never change a moment because of the joy I feel in seeing them.

Your grandchildren are adorable.
I am abiding by my children's wishes to not post our grandchildrens pictures but I so wish I could.
Because of course they are the three most handsome boys in the world of course.

Thanks for visiting...
I enjoyed reading some about your family and the tough times you've gone through. My first husband died in an auto accident when we were both 30, and that was 30 years ago. Time does heal things but our memories last forever.
~~~Blessings~~~
You're very lucky woman. Family is everything. You must be very proud of them. The kids are lovely. You know, my husband always tell that our girls won't date until their
30s. It's good to have dreams!
