About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Church Squirrels

There were five country churches in a small Texas town: The Presbyterian Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the Catholic Church and the Jewish Synagogue. Each church and Synagogue was overrun with pesky squirrels.

One day, the Presbyterian Church called a meeting to decide what to do about the squirrels. After much prayer and consideration they determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will..

In the Baptist Church, the squirrels had taken up habitation in the baptistry. The deacons met and decided to put a cover on the baptistry and drown the squirrels in it. The squirrels escaped somehow and there were twice as many there the next week.

The Methodist Church got together and decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God's creation. So, they humanely trapped the Squirrels and set them free a few miles outside of town. Three days later, the squirrels were back.

But -- The Catholic Church came up with the best and most effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and registered them as members of the church. Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter

Not much was heard about the Jewish Synagogue, but they took one squirrel and had a short service with him called circumcision and they haven't seen a squirrel on the property since.

I'm so glad your Dad is out of surgery and repaired. I'm glad your humor returned. The squirrel story/joke is great. :>) Your students must have loved you. Not that you would have told them that joke, but you have some great stuff.

Leslie, this is a hoot. We'll have to be sure LGS checks it out.

Keep us posted on your Dad.

Ah, too be rich enough to be that Florida squirrel! Every squirrel's ambition!

Josie notified me about your shennanigans. How could I not like this post?

A friend in Maryland sent me this and I just had to share it. I knew LGS would appreciate it, for sure. It was time for a bit of levity. Dad's hanging in there physically, but not doing well in the upstairs department.

What a funny squirrel story!

Do you have any about annoying chipmunks and how various religious groups dealt with them?

I happen to have a yard heavily populated with these annoying little creatures. They keep wanting to take up residence in my garage. I think I need prayerful intervention.

I was hoping LGS would come by. I see he's already been here. Too funny.

Thanks for a good laugh. Have you heard Ray Stevens version of the song "The Day the Squirrel went berserk in the First Self-righteous church"? It's pretty funny.
