About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Nice Matters

Well, I'm blushing! Liz in Swansea, Wales has awarded me the "Nice Matters" award because as she says, "I know we'd get on." Also awarded this lovely honour is jmb who lives right near me in the big city of Vancouver (but whom I haven't yet met) and Anna who lives in Devon, UK.

I guess I never really thought about it before, but "nice" does really matter. Being nice to others inspires them, builds them up, and lets them know that we truly care about them. I've always remembered my mother telling me the same thing Bambi's mother always told him, "If you don't got nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all." So I live my life trying trying to follow the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

Thanks Liz! This is a wonderful Valentine's Day gift!

So two nice ladies should get together soon, along with a third one who lives nearby. Email me and we'll do it.
