For today's submission I've posted a photograph I took in November, 2006. We were driving a narrow road on the way to the market town of Marlborough in England when John had to stop and check his map for directions. I looked out the window and saw this tree looking so stark against the grey November sky. I loved the look of the bare trees, all craggy and gnarly. We don't seem to have these types of trees here in Canada.

Only ours isn't a tree and lays around all day on our futon. And no it's not the bear killer dog.

That tree reminds me of a very old Oak tree. There are several I drive past here in our area that I know to be Oaks, so that is my only reference point.

I too like these grand trees. Sadly, sometimes it is a sign that the tree has stopped living but is still standing, usually hosting parasitic plants that give it the appearance of being alive still. Nature is very clever.
Not having lived far from Marlborough and having travelled through there for over 30 years. I've probably pondered that same tree. Small world, isn't it, Leslie?
