Have you ever had those sharp, jabbing pains or cramps that happen after eating a large bowl of chili topped off with raw onions and cheddar cheese? You know, the kind that actually doubles you over and you think you're going to have to go to the local ER for some relief. The kind that makes you take to your bed with a hot water bottle and some air freshener and a warning on the door: "Caution: lighting a match in here will cause an explosion." (drag your cursor over the blank spot to reveal the warning.)
Well, I'm feeling like that right now. I just returned from driving my daughter home and I passed my gas station where I always fill up. The sign said $1.42.6/liter! I thought I was going to throw up! Just when my back is so bad I find it difficult to walk to the village and I'm probably going to have to start driving the short distance to get groceries, etc., the price of gas goes through the roof.
My stomache is in knots and my brain is shooting jabbing pains through my forehead from the shock. Oh I know, I know, they warned us. But they said the price would probably hit $1.40 by the summer and it's already passed that mark and summer isn't even here yet!
I think I'm going to have to resort to buying cases of beans for my meals. Oh no! That would give me gas pains! NUTS!
In case you can't read the above, it says:
(Eb) This gas situation has become a real pain.
(Flo) I'll say! I haven't been this bloated since I ate the rancid macadamia nuts!
(Eb) Can't you forget about yourself for once? This is about gasoline prices! The whole economy is in danger!
(Flo)I fail to see how the price of gasoline in any way affects our nut-based economy.
(Eb) So our squirrel wealth literally grows on trees?
(Flo)Precisely! Gas is merely a byproduct of economic activity.

Hilarious! And yet...not. The pains at the pump are just getting worse, I fear.
Peace - D
Yes as I saw the gas prices soar on Friday, it made a 10 cents a litre hike from the morning to the afternoon!!! I was saying to my hubby I don't know what I am going to do about work...I have to travel 120km/day 4 days a week that is a tank of gas at a $150.00 a fill up.....
Your trip to the Island in August I would love to see you when you are in Qualicum...I will be off from the 11 - 14th..so we must get together at some point.....let's chat about it....
Leslie those gas pains are definitely universal. Both of them. Except if you come from one of the oil rich countries - then it will only be one that you suffer from.
Google Dubai and then go to images and you will se what is happening with the vast profits that are being generated from oil. I wonder what will happen to it when the oil runs out?
I can't believe how much it is for gas now. I filled my Cobalt today and it had just less than a half a tank of gas already and it was $45.00 to fill.
Thanks for stopping by the blog, by way of Michele, I am looking forward to my new job, but there is so much I have to do to get ready. And this is before training can start.
Please visit again soon.
Hi Momma - yes it IS very painful!
Hi Mary Anne I hope you will be okay with having to travel so far to go to work. Sometimes you wonder if the work is really worth it when you figure out your overhead.
Hi max-e Yes I know it's universal and noticed it two years ago when in the UK - thought it was bad THEN! I know about Dubai!
Hi old fart - love your name, by the way. Ties in nicely to this particular post! lol
Yeah, best of luck in your new job and I will come back again.
Petrol price is going crazy here too of course £1.24 litre for unleaded diesel is plenty more. Swallow deeply when you fill up.
Price is relative . . . but no matter, going up is going up. Here in Massachusetts we're climbed past the $4.00 per gallon mark. I hear they're double that in England . . .
I love your humor in this post ... and most especially your inclusion of the chipmunk cartoon :)
Congratulations as well on your tie for first place. A very nice image worthy of it's reward!
have i ever? i had that feeling several times today! once in the DENTIST chair! that was a haaaard 45 minutes! cuz, you know, usually a trip to the dentist is a real party...
you don't want to know how much i pay for gas. i'm in cardiff. i'll leave it at that. :)
I've found the solution already, eat kidney beans, and rice! Its low fat, low gas, and you can sure stock up! I buy dry, of course.
I add curry ( hot) powder to the rice, and cumin, etc. heat and eat...no gas both ways! We're over 4.00 a gallon here in WA for regular.
Just in time for vacation fun!
