About Me

My photo
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

Crankiness = a good sign

I think we're finally on the road to healing. No pain meds at all yet today for Jaclyn and she even had the gall to ask me to go out and buy her some chocolate! (Well, who doesn't want chocolate, but we don't need it.) Then when I asked her if she'd like to have a tasty golden delicious apple, I was snubbed because I had interrupted her TV show. Hah! So...I'm taking it all as a good sign that she's healing well and starting to get bored. But when I inquired as to whether she felt ready to go to her own home, she did hesitate. ;D We're doing okay living together so far but I think next week when she gets her stitches out, I'll take her home to her own place. Maybe we'll go to the bead store to cash in the gift certificate I gave her for Christmas so she'll have something constructive to do while she continues to heal. Hopefully, she'll get creative and get a lot done with her beadwork. She really does make awfully pretty designs and is getting better all the time. (see photos of the latest work done in amethyst) I'll make sure she has lots of groceries in and check on her daily until she tells me to leave her alone.
