About Me

I took very early retirement from teaching in '06 and did some traveling in Europe and the UK before settling down to do some private tutoring. As a voracious reader, I have many books waiting in line for me to read. Tell me I shouldn't read something, and I will. I'm a happy, optimistic person and I love to travel and through that believe that life can be a continuous learning experience. I'm looking forward to traveling more some day. I enjoy walking, cycling, water aerobics & and sports like tennis, volleyball, and fastpitch/baseball. I'm just getting into photography as a hobby and I'm enjoying learning all the bits and bobs of my digital camera. My family is everything to me and I'm delighted to be the mother of two girls and the Gramma of a boy and a girl. I may be a Gramma, but I'm at heart just a girl who wants to have fun.

B is for Breakfast

Gosh, Wednesday again already! That means ABC Wednesday that I just joined in on last week. This week it's the letter B. Well, I thought about using B is for Boxer (my dog) but I just recently did a post on her. Then I thought maybe I'd do B is for Blarney Stone, which I've yet to kiss. But I don't have any photos of it so that won't do. Oh, I know! I'll do B is for baby! No, I want to wait until the new baby arrives and will do a huge post on that. (Only about 6 weeks to go) I've got it! B is for BREAKFAST. I haven't had it yet and I'm hungry. I think I'll have some scrambled eggs and a nice big mug of coffee.

Ah, that's better. Since I've become much more vigilant about my health (diet and exercise) I have breakfast every day. Sometimes, it's cereal with a bit of fruit and I mix it all up with 1/2 cup of fruit-flavoured yoghurt. I don't like milk on cereal so this is how I get my calcium. It's actually like eating dessert! Try it! Other days I might have a muffin with yoghurt and fruit or like today, scrambled eggs. Except they aren't real eggs but Eggbeaters because I can digest them better.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so whatever you do, don't rush out the door to work or school without a healthy breakfast. Think of yourself like a car - you need fuel to run. Your brain will work better and you can control cravings so you'll maintain or even lose weight if you need to. I hope your breakfast was good. I have put my husband on eggbeaters with his cholesterol problem. I eat them with him to show him I can stand by my man. ;)

I'm a fan of eggs, but I must say that my breakfast usually consists of Corn Flakes with semi-skimmed milk, orange juice and a fruit-yoghurt.

When I'm in the UK on the other hand, things tend to get a little different... :-)

Thank you for a nice comment!

Those scrambled eggs look good, Leslie. Are egg beaters better than eggs? What's the difference?

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

I do eat breakfast, but it is cereal or a slimfast. I have switched from coffee to green tea. Now we only make coffee on the weekends. Now if I could just give up sweets! :)

My husband got sick of eggbeaters and I couldn't eat them myself but I love oatmeal for b'fast.
By the way, I made my own with egg whites and a drop of yellow food coloring and a little powdered milk. He said he couldn't tell the difference in mine and the store bought ones.

I don't do a lot of cow's milk for various reasons, but goat milk is actually very good.I prefer it on my cereal to moo juice.

These days I have found a brand of soy beverage that I am currently using on my cereal..... been thru' the gamut the past 20 years trying to find a brand I like that doesn't cost the moon, nor have a zillion calories in added sugar.

Its PC Biological original fortified soy beverage. I can't remember if you have Loblaws out your way.

Oh yeah..my morning weekday brekkie is Kashi crunch and I add a 1/3 banana and recently blueberries, plus my soy beverage

Hi Leslie,
How do I rotate the picture on my posting? I am so clueless. Some day being blonde is just not a good enough excuse. ;-}
I am planning to do several beach days in a row now. It's going to be in the low 80's and sunny. Just my kind of days.

Have a great day. And keep up the good work on your diet and exercise.

I think the time has come.

Hi Leslie, I always have breakfast, didn;t used to though, and especially now with working.

Special K, or Optivita, and toast.

Porridge with fruit - blueberries
.
Eggs - scrambled, poached with toast, maybe a grilled tomato.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone. It's great to hear from you. FYI, I only drink decaffinated coffee and tea for sleep purposes. Unless in Italy, of course, and then I go for the real cappuccinos! ;D

I enjoyed your thoughts about the importance of breakfast.

I confess I don't eat breakfast - now the secret is out! I have coffee in the morning. However, I DO make two sandwiches every day for lunch.

The rest of the story is that I eat those two sandwiches the moment I get to work around 6:30 or so in the morning. Maybe that constitutes breakfast...!

On weekends, well, that is a different story! Pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast - the works!!!

Take care.

That's my kind of breakfast - nice and simple - with a good dose of caffeine. Thanks for visiting me and my apologies for taking so long to return the visit.
